THE OPEN DOOR
You think of yourself as a troubadour You’ve got everything you want and more So it’s so hard for you to see what I’m going through
Even as I state my reasons why You misunderstand with all your might You knew the winds of change were coming soon
But I left the door open I left it wide open
I felt it was time to start a new life I didn’t think that life would start a fight I never expected the anger you went through
I wanted your support as I moved forward But in that need it seems I’ve struck a chord It’s clear enough what you won’t ever do
But I left the door open I left it wide open
We’re both responsible for the paths we chose And I let you take on yours without a sound Everything seemed easier when we were college bound
But I left the door open I left it wide open
I really never meant to start a fight I only tried to do what I know is right…
But I left the door open I left it wide open ---
