IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT
Word came to me in the dead of night that now you are gone I felt strange twinge of sad and guilt that must have been there all along I pushed the storm deep down inside of me to deal with later on But now that storm keeps on creeping up and it doesn't feel so wrong
Last time we talked you were getting tired And it wasn't too long from then that you expired And I'm at a loss of words the world can admire "At least she's at rest," I said as I stared into the fire
Now at least you have some time for rest and peace that you should've had for years You worked your fingers everyday right to the bone and ignored all your fears Then a storm came one day and took you from the world in a flash of tears But I knew that you'd be happy up with God as I watched the skies clear
Last time we talked you were getting tired And it wasn't too long from then that you expired And I'm at a loss of words the world can admire "At least she's at rest," I said as I stared into the fire
Word came to me in the dead of night that now you are gone I felt a strange twinge of sad and guilt that must have been there all along I pushed the storm deep down inside of me to deal with later on But now that storm keeps on creeping up and it doesn't feel so wrong ---
